  Definition

In given pressure and temperature conditions, CO₂ reaches a « supercritical » state, constantly oscillating between the liquid and gaseous states.

CO₂ then acquires extraordinary properties giving it the ability to extract and/or purify with an absolutely neutral and nontoxic solvent.
